I was born in Southland, New Zealand. Lived in Wellington since I was about 4 years old and always had a slight interest in bikes.
I had done the Karapoti and T42 on my Giant Reign for a few years as a fun ride.
2011 - Upon getting a new mountain bike and a road bike, a local bike store told me to do a race. I thought this would be a bit of a laugh seeing as I just ride for fun. That weekend I entered a road race on the Saturday and a mountain bike race on the Sunday. With McDonalds before both races and a jocular attitude, I followed through with them both.
I won both the road and mountain bike race that weekend - I was hooked!
I have now raced all over New Zealand, from Bluff to Auckland in the national series, Oceania MTB Champs and other minor races. I have also completed my first two World Cup rounds (2013) in Germany and Czech Republic
Cycling isn't about winning. Cycling is about enjoying.
